The Empty Sea

was pretty full yesterday! My sweet cousin, Hermana Brittany Dudley, reported today. It was so fun to be able to be there to drop her off -she is going to be one fantastic missionary!

Look what we did at school today!

Yep! It's Hispanic Heritage Month, and each teacher was asked to do a bulletin board representing a Spanish speaking country. I chose Argentina because that's where my dad served his mission. I have to say I'm pretty proud of my map. Not to mention the kids got some good practice using nonfiction text to gather information!

I went to the garden!

So, not sure what exactly I'm eating for the next week or so, but I do know that it will somehow involve potatoes. Lots and lots of potatoes!  :-)

Remembering Well... What will YOU do?

What a powerful, emotional day! I love being greeted by flags everywhere I look. Such a powerful display of solidarity!
In my classroom we started the day watching a video and discussing the basics of September 11th - what happened, why it happened, and why we celebrate it. Thank you BrainPop for animated, tactful, factual, sensitive videos about hard topics that kids can understand!
Then we watched 911day.org's video about the movement to make this day the single largest day of service and kindness-from hygiene kits and book drives to flash mobs and smiles-thousands of people doing kind deeds makes this a day of powerful solidarity, rather than sadness and fear.
After the video, my students finished this sentence:
On September 11, 2012 I will...
...say thank you to a police officer
...help my mom
...collect toys and clothes for kids with cancer.
So, what will YOU do?

Cucumber people

Because sometimes it's awesome to play with your food!

Boys!

... can escalate normal things like garbage can scooters and wheelchairs into something deadly!  ;-)

Temple hopping

So on Saturday we went temple hopping. We intended to go to the Brigham City temple open house but it was closed for Peach Days. So instead we visited the Logan, Brigham City, and Ogden temples for photography sessions!
Pictures coming soon!

I love when...

I love when "clean up your area" during afternoon routine includes my table. I love my cute little busy bees!

Strawberry Pinnacles

Fredrik and I drive out to Strawberry Pinnacles today with Ben and Spencer before we headed home to Heber. We got some great shots!

Coolest shooting star EVER!

So, tonight we saw the coolest shooting star. It went across the whole horizon and took forever. Long enough to consider getting the camera and regretting you didn't do it. It even changed colors!  It went from white to yellow to orange to green!
Since I obviously didn't get a picture of the shooting star, there are some coming of the ones we did take later.  :-)

A glorious Saturday

So, my phone, which I've been using to post, decided it didn't like this post. Weird.

Saturday was awesome! The night before, I spent the night at Jennie's and got to drive home to a sunrise. That is RARE for me! I'm never up that early! The clouds after a nighttime storm were awesome.

I enjoyed the Fall colors as I drove down to Spanish Fork for a baptism, and then ran errands around Provo.

That evening I went to Swiss Days - another first for me. I got to go with my cousins, and my friends! Afterward, Jennie, Blake and I hit up the Hub, and then went to my house to watch the storm.

Yep, it was pretty much an AWESOME Saturday!

I stopped by the garden yesterday to grab a few things, and noticed that our pumpkins are HUGE and orange! I love fall!
And there was a cute little undaunted flower too!
