I'm friends with Robin Hood and the King!

Today was our Knights of the Math Table celebration. This is such a fun, motivating, math program. I wish all schools did it!

Raising and Teaching Tomorrow's Citizens

This is a picture I actually took yesterday. I was telling a friend tonight how impressed I have been with our students' patriotism and respect this year. We talked about our Veterans Day celebration, our flag retirement, and our recent choir program.
I love teaching the students about respect for our flag, then watching them fold it properly and with respect each afternoon. I loved the gasp of a student when we raised our brand new flag for the first time this year, "Oh! It's SO beautiful!" I was moved to tears last  week when our entire student body of over six hundred 3-to-10-year-olds stood up, hands over their hearts, faced the flag and sang every word of The Star Spangled Banner with respect, without fidgeting, whining, or goofing off. We say the Pledge of Allegiance and sing the National Anthem every Monday as a school, and I know that the Pledge is said everyday in many, if not all, of the classrooms.
It is a tall order to be charged with preparing our nation's future citizens. But if my experiences are any indication, I'd say we're on the right track.

Memorial Day

Today is Memorial Day. I went on a picnic with my friend Jennie today. We went to Cascade Springs, which I had never visited before, followed by Memorial Hill, which she had never visited before. There was so much breath-taking beauty all around that I couldn't stop snapping pictures! This one fit the entire trip though. It was a perfect day, and a wonderful trip.
How grateful I am for the men and women who serve our country, and defend my freedom so that I can enjoy days like today in peace!

My Favorite Mountain

Timpanogos is my favorite mountain. Although it is pretty blustery this weekend, it looks phenomenal amongst the clouds! I love seeing clouds like this, with the light breaking through. It's what inspiration looks like, I think.

A Long Absence and a New Goal

It has been much too long since I have posted. There is much that is new, but rather than back-tracking I'm going to move forward on a new goal inspired by a friend who spoke in church today.

My new goal is to take a picture each day and blog about it. I hope that this goal will help me tune in to beauty and to recognize the hand of God more readily in my life, and all around me. Thanks Denise for the idea!
